Dr. Kamel and Prosecutor-General Witness Cooperation Agreement Signing

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel and Prosecutor-General Counselor Abdel-Megeed Mahmoud witnessed today the signing of a cooperation protocol agreement between Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Public Prosecution Office.

Based on the three-year agreement, MCIT will cooperate with the Public Prosecution Office in developing and modernizing its operations. The agreement goes in line with a promising plan for modernizing judiciary services in a way that is likely to facilitate procedures for Egyptian citizens and foreigners.

The protocol entails the upgrade of information centers of the Public Prosecution Office branches in Cairo and Alexandria. It will be carried out by specialized companies in this domain.

The innovation process covers the departments of database systems, technological infrastructure and network administration as well as the security and privacy systems of information exchange at the prosecution office branches.

E-signature and forensic evidence with IT basis for detecting e-crimes will be introduced as part of the agreement.

In addition, the spectrum of collaboration includes releasing previously developed applications of the criminal prosecution office project through the criminal justice management project in North Giza.

Moreover, operations cover the upgrade of infrastructure of devices and the renewal of licenses for the databases in the prosecution offices of North Giza, Agouza, Dokki, Imbaba and Waraq districts. The upgrade involves modernizing and spreading current applications while facilitating the required software licenses for the project at the central information center.

Two electronic archiving units, one at North and South Prosecution offices at the complex of governmental agencies in Tahrir Square and another at the Giza Prosecution Office for Family Affairs, will be established as part of the project.

Additionally, transmission lines will be installed between Cairo and Giza and the information center of the public prosecution office.

Furthermore, three units will be equipped with computers and printers to offer copies of documents for citizens on the spot and archive marriage and divorce certificates. MCIT will help establish an ICDL training center as well as provide specialized training on the programs required for operation.

The protocol puts into force the bilateral cooperation between MCIT and the Public Prosecution Office. It aims to boost the quality of public service provision and improve the performance of governmental entities as well as monitoring and management mechanisms.

Last but not least, the project will effectively contribute to securing and preserving official documents and improving the work environment for employees to raise their performance.

The agreement was signed by First Deputy to Minister of Communications and IT Dr. Hoda Baraka and Head of Prosecution Offices Administration Counselor Mohamed Abdel-Aziz Osman.
